Even better :D, can't say I like the idea of part of the picture being cut off. You da man.

I just looked at the original and the new wide screen version I have...they do the same thing I think. Has to do with making a 640x480 into a wide screen, I believe. But I'll work on remastering it anyway for the improvement overall.

It pains me to see just how much of the picture is gone. Is it possible that the true Blu-Ray movie has an option to view the full picture, or is this unavoidable?

It's not cutting off as restoring OAR. Prior to going digital, most animated films were shot in 4:3 with matting instructions given to the cinema for display aspect. Video releases could then keep the matte or remove it depending on choice (Disney LD's, for example, were infamous for making people choose between CAV and open matte and OAR in CLV).

Finished final watch of my widescreen version of sea of Stars.
I'll see how the blue ray lines up with my script and it the picture is better for Sea of Stars. I'm also going to try a re-encode of the regular DVD after a couple of tests. Of course if the BD marries up well and is so superior, I'll just match up the script to it and upload it that way.

Here is the link to the blu-ray version of the movie

And for those of you with slower computers, a standard 704x400 version. I had to encode this one using my regular DVD. I tried my best to get a quality encode out of it. Thus it is a little larger than the blu-ray. But I think I got a good outcome. Nearly as good. Download both and see the differences if you want.
